The trail combines the presentation of the cultural and historical heritage with a pleasant walk near the majestic rocks of the gorge.
The route was built in the area of Gradishte, right next to the Vrattsata pass, where, according to historical information, the town of Vratsa was founded. In the second half of the 4th century BC, a Thracian settlement existed in these places. Its creation is related to the protection of the road leading to the copper mines in the Balkans. During the second Bulgarian state, the settlement was fortified with a fortress wall and grew into an urban center.
The route introduces visitors to the excavations, the purpose of the individual sites, and their historical and cultural value.
The Open Vratsa platform is an initiative to create a new brand and advertising campaign for Vratsa to reveal and promote the opportunities for natural and cultural tourism in the city and the region.
