The cave entered Vratsa's business card in 1900.
The first excursion to the cave "Ledenitsa" was organized by the newly formed tourist society "Veslets" on June 18, 1900. Thus, today's natural landmark was opened as a tourist site for its first visitors - tourists from Vratsa, says Vesela Pelova from the State Archives - Vratsa.
There are not many tourist attractions for which the exact "date of birth" is remembered, such as Ledenika cave, writes the site kartanavremeto-vratsa.org. And as early as 1902, tourists from Vratsa proudly recorded in their excursion diary the visit of the first 47 guests to the cave. Thanks to them, it became the "famous Ledenika cave" - the pride of our Balkan". Until then, it was just a terrible hole, known only to the shepherds and innkeepers who took ice from there. As the reason for attracting so many guests, the reports proudly point out that the tourists themselves contributed to this: "with the fantastic description of this cave by those who had climbed it and the effort of the board to invite as many guests as possible".
The "Ledenitsa" cave, as it has been known for decades, occupies a worthy place in the first business card of Vratsa, along with Botev and the famous sights Vrattsata and the Hut. This business card, the work of the "Veslets" company, then begins to sound like this: "Vratsa - sheltered the lobular place of the giant of Bulgarian thought - Hristo Botev, hiding in the bowels of its wild Balkan the famous Ledenika cave, decorated with the wonderful rocks of Vrattsata and the Tourist House ".
